The sphere is an expansion vessel from a local industry, designed to withstand high pressure. The shell of the seat comes from a Porsche 356B, one of Anders Kappel’s first cars. Between the seat and the sphere lie four white rubber hockey pucks used to train a goalkeeper’s reflexes — eye and hand must coordinate, much like in rapid model drawing. The sports seat and the pucks offer a quick retreat if one cannot sit steadily on the Throne, a symbolic metaphor that may apply equally to those in power and to artists.
